It was formed as a church in 1979, when three small congregations that had grown out of church planting innitiatives undertaken by Canon James Wong came together to form the Chapel of the Resurrection. Initially, this congregation met at the canteen of St Andrew's Junior College in Malan Road. There were about 70 worshippers in the main COR congregation and about 50 others meeting in the East Coast at the Marine Parade Christian Centre. From this humble but significant beginning, the Lord blessed the faithful preaching and teaching of God's Word as well as the openness to the working of the Holy Spirit.

COR was ably led by Rev Canon Dr James Wong from 1979 to 2001. Rev Canon Dr John Benson took over as Vicar in February 2001 and continues to build on our rich spiritual heritage.

In 2005, the church moved from Malan Road to its current location in the St Andrew's Village (SAV) at Potong Pasir. We consist of 11 congregations meeting on either Saturday or Sunday in different locations
