“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
Every Christian, whether rich or poor, learned or unlearned, influential or totally unknown, is called to imitate God's holiness in their actions, attitudes, and relationships.
Jerry Bridges was an influential Christian author and speaker known for his writings on the topics of holiness, discipleship, and God's grace. He believed that holiness was not something one could achieve solely through their own efforts, but through relying on God's grace and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in one's life.
He was a strong example of someone who truly sought to live a holy life. His writings and teaching have encouraged Christians globally to continually strive for spiritual maturity and to walk in God's ways and grow in their relationship with Him.
1 Peter
"Only when we understand the holiness of God will we understand the depth of our sin."
-Billy Graham
Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2, “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.”
Living holy lives is the way we live to please the Lord. As we live holy lives we prepare ourselves for the Lord’s return. “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.” 1 Peter 1:13-14
